Oleander Road Closure begins Monday October 7, 2013

Tweet Just FYI… A portion of Oleander Street crossing over a drainage ditch located between Silverbell Circle and Corkwood Street will be closed to both Pedestrian and Vehicular thru Traffic beginning Monday October 7, 2013 for approximately two (2) months. This closure is necessary for the installation of concrete box culverts under the roadway and other constructions as part of the 2010 Bond Drainage Improvements Project and safety of the general public. -Northbound vehicular traffic from the intersection of Basswood and Oleander Streets to the intersection of Oleander Street and Silverbell Circle, will need to detour through Basswood Street due east, Walnut Street due north, and Silverbell Circle due west.

Filmmaker Tristan Stoch Filming Acupuncture Clinic in Nepal

Tweet   Tristan Stoch, 21, is now in a Buddhist monastery filming a health clinic run by the Acupuncture Relief Project, or ARP.   ARP is a free community acupuncture clinic that travels to countries that have been impacted by poverty, conflict or disaster, according to the group’s website, www.acupuncturereliefproject.org.   Its primary clinic is located in Chapagaon, Nepal.   In a letter to Force, Stoch said he wanted to show the potential ARP’s model has for primary care in the Third World, to expose caregivers from the health care community to the work that ARP is doing in Nepal and to attract future volunteers and expand ARP’s work to.

Tweet Dickens on the Strand – Character Costumes. Credits: DickensontheStrand.org       Galveston: December 3-4, 2011   Dickens on The Strand, an annual holiday street festival based on 19th-century Victorian London, features parades, non-stop entertainment on five stages, strolling carolers, roving musicians, bagpipers, jugglers and a host of other entertainers. Costumed vendors will peddle their wares from street stalls and rolling carts laden with holiday food and drink, Victorian-inspired crafts, clothing, jewelry, holiday decorations and gift items.   A new event for 2011, Her Majesty’s Royal Romp, will feature contestants dressed as Queen Victoria dashing down Ship’s Mechanic Row. The crowd favorite Victorian Bed Races will feature contestants wearing Victorian.
